Giving

Every dollar you give goes directly to enhancing the quality of healthcare for all Yukoners. Every single dollar given is used to support the area of greatest need. Your hospital needs your support. Give our doctors, nurses and staff the equipment they need to provide the care you need. Our hospitals are always in great need of advanced equipment, including critical diagnostic imaging, surgical and other specialized tools.

Yukoners Cancer Care Fund (YCCF)

A gift from Yukoners to Yukoners, this fund has assisted over 185 Yukoners since we started granting funds in 2014. A one-time donation of $1,000 per patient. Recently diagnosed patients with cancer (with the exception of breast cancer) who are residents of the Yukon (including Atlin and Lower Post, BC) who receive cancer treatment at Whitehorse General Hospital or who are required to travel outside of the Yukon for medical appointments, treatments or care.

Karen’s Fund

Yukoners recently diagnosed with breast cancer and who receive chemotherapy at WGH or are required to travel outside the territory for care may be eligible for financial support through the Karen J. Wiederkehr Memorial Fund, which helps provide assistance to women experiencing financial demands while undergoing treatment.

Karen’s Room – Chemotherapy Suite

Chemotherapy treatment is provided in Karen’s Room, a special environment for patients and their families at WGH. The room opened in April 2003 and is named in memory of Karen Wiederkehr. She provided the inspiration for the room, so patients and their loved ones would have a quiet and comfortable place for treatment. Her husband, Jack Kobayashi, a local architect, supported this dream and helped make her legacy come true through donations from many community partners.

Making History – The Big LEGO Paddlewheeler Build!

This exciting and fun new campaign will offer our donors the opportunity to purchase a LEGO brick for $5 to support the Yukon Hospital Foundation. These fundraising bricks will build a scaled down model of a Yukon Paddlewheeler boat.

Brickman Graeme Canada’s original Master Model Builder and independent LEGO® brick building is creating the design of the Paddlewheeler. The LEGO model will consist of 25,000 LEGO bricks and take Foundation volunteers over a year to build.

This will be the largest LEGO project in the Yukon and we will host several community activities related to this historic build in the next year. The campaign will close next July – the 15th anniversary of the Yukon Hospital Foundation.

Please buy your bricks and help us guild the Big LEGO Paddlewheeler!
